Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquière is to be made a Chevalier des arts et lettres, an award of merit bestowed by the French government which highlights contributions to French culture. The award will be by officially handed to Ghesquiere by François Pinault, owner of PPR (Balenciaga's parent company) in a ceremony at Balenciaga headquarters in Paris. The Luxe Chronicles extends its most heartfelt congratulations to Monsieur Ghesquiere - my Balenciaga "City" bag occupies a place of honor in my handbag collection and I wear it proudly wherever I go!
