In no particular order, this is what The Luxe Chronicles is looking forward to in 2008:
1. The re-launch of the House of Halston during New York Fashion Week, February 1-8, 2008.
2. The re-launch of the House of Ossie Clark during London Fashion Week, February 10-16, 2008.
3. Weinstein Co.'s documentary film about Halston and his Studio 54 lifestyle.
4. The announcement of Diego Della Valle's choice to re-launch the House of Schiaparelli - haven't we waited long enough Mr. Della Valle?
5. The return of Hedi Slimane to LVMH - maybe.
6. The return of the grande dame of London fashion, Vivienne Westwood, to London Fashion Week - even if it is only her Red Label collection.
7. More licensing deals from Karl Lagerfeld. Sunglasses, handbags, apparel, luggage, diet books, French cakes and pastries for LeNotre - what will he license next?
8. H & M's Fashion Against AIDS line of T-shirts, tank tops and hoodies to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS among young people. The line will be available in H&M stores as of February 2008 and 25 per cent of proceeds will go to HIV/AIDS-prevention projects around the world. Please show your support.
9. A brand new Roger Vivier flagship store in Milan's Via Sant'Andrea slated to open in February 2008.
10. The release of Sex And The City - The Movie in May 2008. Who cares whether Carrie and Big end up together - I want to see the shoes!!!
11. The release of Ridley Scott's movie chronicling the Gucci family's tumultuous history (no release date yet).
12. Valentino's final farewell to the world of haute couture in Paris on January 23. No seriously, it really is his very, very last farewell.
13. Greater efforts by the luxury industry to curb the pervasive issue of counterfeit products - please remember, this is not a victimless crime. It's neither cool nor fashion-forward to carry a handbag made by children in sweatshops.
14. The publication of Simon Doonen's book entitled Eccentric Glamour: Creating an Insanely More Fabulous You due out in April 2008 dedicated to eccentricity and individuality in fashion. Long overdue!!
15. More opportunities for black and asian models on fashion runways and off.
16. Fewer celebrity endorsements and celebrity-designed "fashion" lines. I can dream can't I?
17. Alessandra Facchinetti's debut collection for Valentino to be unveiled at Milan Fashion Week, February 18 - 24, 2008. No pressure.
18. Christina Ortiz's debut collection for Ferragamo. Less pressure but just as much talent.
19. As advertisers increasingly abandon traditional forms of advertising, we can expect to see more product placements intertwined with plot lines in both movies and television series. I look forward to witnessing the creative contortions this brings about.
20. More entertaining, insightful and thoughtful postings from our friends Manolo at Manolo's Shoe Blog, Mrs. P&C at Poetic & Chic, the team of bloggers at Verycool.it and all of The Luxe Chronicles internet friends.

Merci for the mention Helene! Such a classy, on-message list - mine is so much more self-indulgent by comparison.
I love reading LC and wish you a fantastic 2008 - your work is just wonderful!
Meilleurs voeux...
