Move over 'Birkin', step aside 'Kelly', make way for the 'Yohji', Hermes' latest offering. The bag with simple, clean lines and roomy interior was designed by Yohji Yamamoto for Hermes and debuted during the designer's Fall/Winter 2008-09 runway show earlier this week in Paris. Made of crocodile for Yamamoto's runway show, it will be available exclusively in Hermes' Barenia leather in three different sizes: 35, 38 or 41 centimeters. This marks Yamamoto's first foray into accessories albeit indirectly via this one-off collaboration with Hermes. While it's a bit austere for my taste, it's likely to appeal to many of my male friends as its design is perfect to substitute as a laptop bag cum briefcase. Please note that the bag is exclusively made-to-order from Hermes' Faubourg Saint-Honore store in Paris, Hermes' Ginza store in Tokyo, Hermes' Madison Avenue and Wall Street stores in Manhattan and Bond Street store in London. Prices range from $6200 USD (4100 Euros) and $7100 USD (4700 Euros) depending on size. You might want to place your order very soon however - this bag will be available in very limited quantities.

Hi Dustin:
Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and for the additional information regarding Yamamoto - I (gladly) stand corrected.

Great bag, but I have to correct one thing. This is not Yamamoto's first foray into accessories. He's been making bags, wallets, jewelry, hats, scarves, etc under his own name for years.
The pairing of Hermes and Yamamoto makes a lot of sense though as far as their quality, simplicity and attention to detail is concerned. Funny that Rei Kawakubo is teaming up with LVMH at the same time.
