Very Elle: Just What The World Needs, Another Fashion Magazine

If you happen to be in Paris today, you might want to saunter over to a news kiosque and pick up a copy of Very Elle, the newest offering from Hachette Filipacchi Media (publisher of Elle). Given the dwindling circulation (not to mention the dwindling influence) of mainstream fashion publications, we would be forgiven for asking: do we really need another one? The answer to that question is a definite maybe.

First, the current plan is to publish only twice a year. Normally, this should ensure there is enough quality content to fill the magazine without forcing editors to resort to the usual drivel one finds in monthly publications. Also, the format aims to be a free-flowing platform for continuously changing collaborations as opposed to a regular cast of contributors. Finally, the magazine is targeting the more selective, cutting edge followers of fashion (in other words, readers of L'Officiel).

Very Elle launches today across France. A Very Elle web site (VeryElle.fr) which mimics the effect online of leafing through an actual magazine also launches today. I won't get a chance to pick one up until next week. If you get a chance to check it out before then, let me know what you think.

Sincerely,

The Luxe Chronicles
