As Vanessa Friedman is currently on holiday, the FT's weekly 'Style & Shopping' column is written during her absence by various members of the British fashion industry. This week, the column is written by London-based designer Duro Olowu and is entitled 'Darling, do you like it?'. As the title suggests, the column is about the designer's observations of the delicate diplomatic dance that takes place when women shop for clothing with their husbands or lovers. A cute read for women and men alike - I highly recommend it.
Oluwu is known for beautiful dresses made of vibrant mixes of patterns and motifs. He made a name for himself among fashion cognoscenti with his beautiful empire waist dresses made of vintage fabrics. If he's not already on your fashion radars, he should be. Along with my selections from Roland Mouret's RM Fall/Winter collection, a couple of Olowu's dresses are on my Fall 'Wish List'. In New York, Barney's carries a selection of his dresses but if you happen to be in London, it's well worth a trip to his boutique at 365 Portobello Road. For more information, please visit the designer's Website.
Sincerely,
The Luxe Chronicles

I adore Duro Olowu's collections each season. I wait with baited breath until the pictures go live...
I think it's his colorful mix paired with great editing and very wear-able pieces. You can do a lot with them as separates, which is something I always look for: how will this runway translate to real life?
