I'm currently on vacation (technically). I've worked hard and feel like I've earned a vacation. A real one with my Blackberry switched 'off' and no interruptions. I want to relax, soak up the sun (with proper sun protection of course) and not have to deal with anything more complex than 'Are we eating out or ordering room service?' 'The orange kaftan or the blue one?' But I can't do that. Instead, I need to focus on my Fall/Winter fashion 'wish list' and work out the necessary arrangements with the personal shopping services of my preferred fashion retailers. The fashion industry works in such a way that those gems I've been lusting over since last February and March when the collections were unveiled have already begun to arrive at retailers and in some cases have already sold out. Aaargh! So, in between my spa treatments and my site seeing, I need to keep checking my Blackberry to see if the coveted dress or coat has come in. This is annoying and in some instances downright stressful. In this respect, my sympathies lie squarely with Dutch design duo Viktor & Rolf who very publicly manifested their discontent with the ever increasing pace of the fashion cycle at their Fall/Winter runway show. We should all collectively shout "NO" to this absurd practice and reclaim the summer.
Sincerely,
The Luxe Chronicles
