The Perfect Antidote to the Economic Blues? The Perfect Pair of Red Shoes
Images courtesy of Net-A-Porter.
I've been searching for the perfect pair of red stilettos for a very, very, long time. I had the perfect pair of red sandals and the perfect pair of red ballet flats but the perfect pair of red stilettos had (until now) stubbornly eluded me. Stilettos make a powerful statement thanks to their shape - all sharp edges and sexiness. The color red makes an equally strong statement - loud, brash and sexy. When combined together, there is something about the color and the shape that I find can be somewhat overpowering. In other words, I was looking for a shoe that said 'stylishly sexy' rather than 'sartorially slutty'. I wasn't absolutely certain what the perfect pair of red stilettos would look like but I was confident I would know them when I saw them. Brian Atwood must have heard my silent prayers because he designed the perfect pair (to my mind). I found them on Net-A-Porter (of course). The heel is perfect, the height is perfect, the shape is perfect, the color is perfect. P-E-R-F-E-C-T!
The irrefutable sign that you've found the perfect pair of shoes? They magically breath new life into any number of garments that have been hanging more-or-less unloved in you closet. They look as fantastic with a pair of skinny jeans and fitted navy blue blazer as they do with a black pencil skirt and ruffled silk blouse. I've paired them with a pony skin zebra-print handbag to great effect but they look equally great with my minimalist patent leather Pierry Hardy clutch. Most importantly of all, every time I glance down at my feet or catch my reflection somewhere, they make me feel inexplicably happy. H-A-P-P-Y! I love, love, love them. Now, if I could only find the perfect shade of matte red lipstick (...).
Sincerely,
The Luxe Chronicles
Hi there completelyfabulous! I just tried the link and it took me to the right page on Net-A-Porter's U.K. site which is where I purchased the shoes. It may be that you're browser's settings are for Net-A-Porter's U.S. site. In any event, the name of the shoe is the Tonya in red patent leather and they're by Brian Atwood. Hope it helps - I know what it's like to have a bad case of shoe lust.

Loved your post on the red pumps--and love this Brian Atwood patent pump. Could you post the link to this shoe so I can buy it? I tried following the link in the post but it just took me to the front page of the site. Then I tried to search the Brian Atwood shoes on the site and this one didn't come up.
Hope you can help me out. It's a fabulous shoe!
