It looks like Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist isn't the only street fashion chronicler to land a book deal. Yvan Rodic of Face Hunter blog has just signed a book deal with Thames and Hudson. The book will contain Rodic's favorite portraits accompanied by his own commentary.
While it would be tempting to write off Rodic's work as derivative of Schuman's better know The Sartorialist blog, Face Hunter has a look and feel distinct from The Sartorialist. Rodic's photographs are grittier than those of Schuman's and he definitely goes farther afield to snap his subjects. A recent series of photos posted on the blog for instance were snapped in Reykjavík, Iceland. Also, unlike Schuman who is a fashion industry insider and chronicles many industry professionals, Rodic who grew up in Switzerland neither limits his work to the fashion industry nor does he consider himself a fashion blogger. Rather, he considers himself an outsider interested less in the clothing worn than the people wearing it.
The book is scheduled for release in 2010. For more information about Rodic and his observations on the current engouement for chronicling street fashion, there is an interesting interview published on Menstyle.fr.
Sincerely,
The Luxe Chronicles
