On Tuesday, I popped out during lunch to attend a trunk show for Jason Wu's Spring/Summer 2010 collection hosted by Browns here in London. What a treat! The collection is absolutely sublime. The materials he uses and the details he incorporates into his designs including a cocktail dress with a skirt covered in raw-edge silk rosettes probably have more in common with haute couture confections than the average prêt-à-porter collection.
I suppose it's entirely fitting that such lovely creations would spring from the creative mind of such a lovely person. I had a chance to chat with him while trying on a few of the exquisite pieces. His easy-going, unpretentious manner is utterly charming and before I knew it, we went from chatting about his production techniques to parental expectations to accents (he would love to pick up a proper British accent but he'll settle for Madonna's mid-atlantic version). As the French would say, il est tout simplement a-do-rable! My next brush with the affable Mr. Wu will be in March 2010 when his beautiful pieces arrive at Browns. I couldn't resist the pretty, pleated skirt pictured below. While it may be my first Jason Wu piece, I have a strong hunch it will not be my last.
Sincerely,

I love a personal recommendation - far more inspiring than editorial.
