I don't know about you but growing up, I watched my fair share of old re-runs of The Avengers (or Chapeau melon et bottes de cuir if your watched it dubbed in French). It was therefore a total and utter treat to see the Emma Peel-inspired collection unveiled by Jean Paul Gaultier for Hermes this week in Paris.
Nothing about this collection was necessarily innovative or "pushed fashion forward" as fashion editors and commentators like to say. Still, as a consumer, I found it deeply satisfying to see. More importantly, it made me want to buy (if for no other reason than to indulge my childhood fantasies of dressing up as Mrs. Peel). That can't be a bad thing. Well done Monsieur Gaultier.
Sincerely,
The Luxe Chronicles
