Pity the current Duke of Devonshire. His ancestral home Chatsworth House is getting a tad cramped and so he's decided to hold a clearance sale. I suppose these things do happen when one has a mere 297 rooms at one's disposal.
In any event, his loss is our gain. If you happen to be in the market for a 19th-century Russian leather sleigh, a dining table that can seat 60 guests comfortably, a 62ft (19 metres) long carpet or enough architectural fittings to recreate a library, a ballroom and a saloon having once graced Devonshire House, the London seat of the duke's ancestors which was demolished in the 1920's, do ring up Chatsworth House and ask to speak to Peregrine. Or, if you prefer, you can wait for the Sotheby's sale in October.
Sincerely,
The Luxe Chronicles
