English summers tend to be fleeting (and in some instances downright elusive). Because of this, one tends to look for ways to highlight its arrival ... a new pair of summer heels for instance or a flirty frock or a light, breezy fragrance. It's a way to take something ephemeral and make it just a tad more substantial. This year, Bulgari graciously helped me mark the arrival of summer by sending me a sample of their BLV Eau d'été fragrance to try out.
The work of perfumer Jacques Cavallier, BLV Eau d'été is a gentle mix of bergamot, lemon, mint, iris and violet with a dash of cinnamon and a hint of pine needle. It is a subtle fragrance meant to be worn during the carefree days of summer and packed away at the first hint of autumn. I've been wearing it for several weeks now and I found that it was at its loveliest during the recent heat spell when the lemon and bergamot notes were at their most robust. Today by contrast, the temperatures have cooled substantially and I can barely smell it on my skin. It's like a reminder to make the most of the fleeting days of summer before the gentle breeze cedes way to the chill and bluster of fall.
Sincerely,
The Luxe Chronicles
N.B. I received a bottle of BLV Eau d'été fragrance for the purposes of review. No further remuneration or gift was received. The sample was unsolicited and I was under no obligation to write the present post.
