I used to be a big fan of Anna Dello Russo. When she first emerged on the street style blog scene, her fearless "I love fashion and I don't care who knows it" personal style was a welcome change from the typical blasé fashion set. Her enthusiasm for fashion struck me as genuine and her outfits seemed an accurate reflection of that enthusiasm. Even when decked out in head-to-toe runway looks, she seemed to be expressing a point of view. I could respect that.
Lately however, I find myself looking at Ms. Dello Russo in a different light. Perhaps its the launch of her perfume or, the constant stream of self-promotional tweets or, the collection of cheap costume jewellery she purportedly "designed" but her parade of traffic-stopping outfits now appear more contrived than refreshing. It all coalesced for me about the time she started wearing an assortment of fruit on her head. This season, it's a plastic doll.
Nowadays, her attire seems to be less about expressing her deep love of fashion and more about an insatiable need for attention. Moreover, I can't tell if this is how she really was all along or whether she has been transformed by the attention. Is this really who she is or is she merely conforming to some kind of public personna created by the countless blogs who chronicle her every outfit? I can't tell for sure but her antics strike me as a bit sad. I miss the old Anna.
Sincerely,
The Luxe Chronicles
Thank you for sharing my similar sentiments. She is a parade of herself, much like how Lady Gaga is a parade of herself times a thousand.
There's a fine line being kooky and fun, and being entirely out of touch with fashion (I would say another celebrity blogger suffers from the same symptoms). Once I heard that Anna "designed" a collection for H&M, well she sold her soul to the devil.
Hail to independent fashion bloggers who still have a sense of integrity.

I am usually just a reader on your blog but I couldn't help not commenting.
This post exactly expresses my opinion about Anna now than what she used to be. I think nowadays her aim (as well as obvious others in the industry) is to brand her self; like a walking bilboard of herself. She is trying so hard to prove her eccentricity and dying love for fashion in a way that only Anna does but there will a come a point where whatever can be done is done and whatever extremities that can be taken will be so passe.
I still hold a small tiny spot for her in my heart in hopes that she will tone down, but in the meanwhile, I can't stop but roll my eyes whenever her image pops up.
P.S. How can you forget to mention the music videos she makes from time to time? Atrocious!

She is not Anna Piaggi, who crafted greatly beautiful albeit eccentrically happy ensembles.
This is The Moment in fashion ... attention and adoration.
So tired.
And if the lady is as hard working for the industry as Anna Piaggi always has been, I will immediately withdraw my criticism.
I think not.
